Calgary Holistic Death Network October Guest Presentation:
If you or someone you love is ill, you may find yourself navigating an entirely new world of specialists, referrals, test results, treatments, medications and difficult decisions. Being ill is hard enough, without having to learn the ins and outs of the healthcare system at the same time.
Leslie will discuss the emerging field of patient advocacy, and how advocacy can reduce the stress on patients and their families, potentially leading to better health outcomes.
Topics covered will include:
Grounding, balance, and trust in your intuition is key to being empowered around your own healthcare. Leslie will lead us in an experiential exercise to help demonstrate this connection.
Leslie has a Bachelor of Nursing, and over 15 years of acute care experience (in ICU, Emergency, and as flight nurse with Stars.) For 26 years she’s practiced as an advanced massage and cranial therapist in integrative health, serving a largely physician referred clientele.
For the last 10 years Leslie has been in private practice as a Nurse Patient Advocate, supporting clients navigating the healthcare system. Leslie is passionate about facilitating clear communication between a client and their healthcare team.
Leslie recently published her first book: DR. YOU: A simple guide to navigating the healthcare system, which will be for sale at the event.
