Funerals are pragmatic rituals and they serve a very real purpose. When they’re done right, they bring healing to both the living and the dead. When they are the mark, they can feel hollow and meaningless, or proselytizing and inappropriate.
A funeral is a highly choreographed process, in which the community comes together for healing and solace, the family is supported and validated in their loss, and the person who has died is sent off on their journey.
The most healing rituals are ones in which the participants feel involved and engaged. Because funerals are generally larger ceremonies, finding ways to facilitate that engagement is both more difficult, and also more important. This workshop will give you the skills to plan, coordinate, and officiate all aspects of a meaningful ceremony.
